  • Welcome to Branford — a Sound location

  • Branford has been described in the CT Economic Digest as “a vital community with a strong economic base, low taxes, and excellent schools and municipal services. The town is rather unique among the shoreline towns east of New Haven in that it has encouraged substantial development in well-defined districts.” Without a doubt, Branford is a Sound location.

With a healthy business climate and a diverse business community of bioscience, manufacturing, healthcare and service industries, and retail, Branford businesses include: 454 Life Sciences, an R&D powerhouse in biotech; CAS Medical, among the Connecticut Technology Council’s “Top 40” fastest growing technology companies; and Branford Hills Health Care Center, recipient of the American Health Care Association’s “Step 1 Quality Award”.

These businesses recognize that Branford provides them with what every company wants: full municipal services (e.g., water, sewer), a skilled workforce, the lowest tax rate along the I-95 corridor, and convenient access to transportation. A triple-A rating by Standards & Poor’s is icing on the cake.

Centrally located on the Long Island Sound with more than 20 miles of shoreline, Branford has a quality of life and sense of community that is second to none. All of this is combined with a “business friendly” approach that encourages new ventures and expansions.

With its business-oriented environment, Branford offers its corporate residents,

    · Low property taxes: Branford’s taxes are below the state and regional average, but we but still offers full service (e.g., water and sewer) with an excellent infrastructure. We are consistently ranked high with many key economic indicators, such as our effective tax rate, per capita income, and our municipal bond rating – an Aa3 from Moody’s.
    · Excellent intermodal transportation: there’s quick access to Interstate 95 and 91, as well as an easy rail commute to New Haven on the Shore Line East, with direct connections to Amtrak and/or Metro North. In addition to Bradley International Airport, Tweed-New Haven Airport is only minutes away with offering daily service to major cities. For those behind the wheel, Branford has four points of access to Interstate 95, with improvements recently completed by the state and federal governments including wider lanes, new access ramps, and better lighting, making it safer for everyone.
    · A quality school system, shoreline recreation, and a variety of cultural outlets, making Branford a highly desirable community in which to work and live.
